The Perfect Rug specializes in creating custom rugs customized for individual preferences. Customers can choose from a variety of materials, colors, patterns, and sizes to design rugs that fit their specific needs and spaces.
Goal
The primary goals for The Perfect Rug were to generate more organic traffic, improve rankings for target keywords related to the "custom rugs" market, and increase the website's authority.
Solutions
Collection Pages’ Optimization
We started by conducting in-depth keyword research and analyzing the existing collection pages. While many collections already ranked in the Top 10 for targeted money keywords, we optimized them further by refining headings, improving keyword usage, and updating metadata. We also improved the page content, making it more relevant and helpful for users.
Additionally, we identified products that were not listed in the appropriate collections. To address this issue, we created new collections targeting specific money keywords, helping to expand the audience and generate more organic traffic and sales.
Navigation Optimization
After publishing and optimizing collection pages, we updated the top menu navigation to provide Google bots and users with quick access to these pages. Next, internal linking was implemented across all collections to improve site architecture and discoverability. We also suggested changes to the faceted navigation by adding targeted keywords, making it easier for users to find what they need and helping the site rank better in search results.
Product Cards
We improved the display of product cards to highlight key details at a glance, such as material, size, color, and pattern, while also incorporating internal linking.
Each product card included links to the relevant collections, making navigation easier for users and helping search engines better associate target keywords with each collection.
Technical Audit
We conducted regular technical audits to identify and fix any issues affecting the website's performance. This included checking for broken links, improving page load speed, and resolving crawl errors to help search engines navigate the site more efficiently.
Link Building
We used a focused link-building strategy to get high-quality backlinks from niche-related websites. As a result, we secured 249 backlinks with an average Domain Rating (DR) of 45. These backlinks boosted the website’s domain authority and helped improve rankings for competitive keywords.
Results
We optimized collection pages with targeted keywords, updated headings, and improved content. We also created new collections to reach more people and better categorize products. Along with navigation and internal linking improvements, these efforts led to a 57% increase in organic traffic, growing it from 7,752 to 12,229 monthly visits.
We saw a 50% increase in the ranking of keywords in the top 10, with the count rising from 1,015 to 1,525. This increase highlights the effectiveness of our optimization strategies in improving the website's search engine visibility.
At the start of the project, the website’s DR was 20. Through our link-building efforts, we raised it to 35, achieving a 75% increase.
